About Us

The Providence Division comprises nearly 17.6 square miles of historic and established communities including Myers Park, Cotswold, Grier Heights, Cherry, Dilworth, and the SouthPark area. We have 77 Officers, 8 Sergeants, a Captain, and 1 Investigative Technician. Several citizen volunteers also work in the division office.  Our office is located at 3500-400 Latrobe Drive (near North Wendover Road and Monroe Road) in the Arnold Palmer Plaza Business Park. 

A new substation on the property of SouthPark Mall (4400 Sharon Rd.)  opened February 8, 2007. The substation is the result of a cooperative effort between Simon Property Group, owner of SouthPark, and the Police Department. This location serves as the base of operations for the Providence Division's bicycle officers who patrol neighborhoods across the division. The construction and outfitting of the office was made possible by monetary donations and services from numerous businesses in the area and the SouthPark Chapter of the Chamber of Commerce.

The Providence Division is divided into three response areas and operates three standard work shifts with one overlapping evening shift and one overlapping afternoon shift.  The division also utilizes Community Coordinators and a full time Bike Unit.  For more information about division personnel, points of contact, and special units and projects, please view the additional information about the division.

The Providence Division office is not staffed 24 hours a day, however we do have a 24-hour voice mail system. 

• If you want the police to respond to your location, dial 911. 
• If you want to make a report by telephone, dial 311. 
• If you would like to speak to an officer about a particular problem, please call our office. If no one is available, leave a message on our voice mail, and we will return your call as soon as possible.
• When calling about a particular case or accident, please leave the report number.  If you do not know the report number, leave the exact location, date and time the incident occurred.
