About Us
The Metro Division comprises 13.3 square miles of historic and older communities with diverse populations, including a strong commercial and industrial presence in northwest Charlotte. There are 87 Officers, 3 Response Area Commanders, 7 Sergeants, 1 Investigative Technician, and a Captain assigned to the division.
The office is currently located at Police Headquarters, 601 East Trade Street, at the corner of Trade and S. Davidson Streets. Officers also work out of the the community's Northwest Service Center located at 2324 LaSalle Street, at the intersection with Beatties Ford Road.
The division is divided into three geographically distinct response areas. Each has a Response Area Team that is responsibile for reducing crime at the neighborhood level. A Response Area Commander leads each team and serves as the area's primary police representative. The division also has a Focused Mission Team which the division commander is able to deploy strategically to be a proactive force in crime hot spots and to address emerging problems.
The Metro DIvision operates three standard work shifts and two overlapping shifts.
