Independence Division

About Us

The Independence Division comprises nearly 20.5 square miles of Mecklenburg County with a strong commercial presence as well as residential areas. Independence is located in the southeastern portion of Mecklenburg County. There are 73 Officers, 8 Sergeants, 1 Investigative Technician and a Captain assigned to the division. The office is currently located at 9315-G Monroe Rd.

The division is divided into three response areas and operates three standard work shifts with two overlapping shifts. The majority of officers are assigned to these shifts, although the division also has a squad of Community Coordinators and a squad of  Division Investigators. For more information about division personnel, points of contact and special units and projects, please view the additional information about the division.

The Independence Division office is not staffed 24 hours a day, however we do have voice mail on our phone line. 
  • If you want police to respond to your location, dial 911. 
  • If you want to make a report by telephone, dial 311. 
  • If you would like to speak to an officer about a particular problem please call our office. If no one is available, please leave a message on our voice mail. Someone will return your call as quickly as possible.
