The CMPD Crime Lab and the Sexual Assault Cold Case Unit detectives have identified a suspect in the May 22, 2003 kidnapping and sexual assault of a female victim.  Joseph Keith Perry, B/M (DOB 10-21-1983), is currently in the Mecklenburg County Jail awaiting trial on unrelated charges.

At 11:30 p.m. on May 22, 2003 a then-unknown black mail approached the two victims as they were performing routine maintenance on a cell tower site on Brookshire Blvd.The suspect held them at gunpoint, took the victim's vehicle and abducted the female victim. As the suspect drove away with the female, the male attempted to help her and the suspect fired several shots at him. The suspect then took the female victim to a cemetary off of Beatties Ford Rd where he sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.

Joseph Perry has been charged with 1^st degree Rape, 2 counts 1^st degree Sex Offense, 1^st degree Kidnapping, 2^nd degree Kidnapping, 2 counts Robbery w/Dangerous Weapon, Assault w/Deadly Weapon w/Intent to Kill and Possesion of Firearm by Convicted Felon in relation to this incident.
