Southwest Charlotte Robbery Under Investigation

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Robbery detectives are currently investigating an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Thursday October 9, 2008 at 7957 Shady Oak Tr. #58 in the Steele Creek Division.


Steele Creek Division officers responded to a call for service in reference to one male victim being shot. When officers arrived on scene they located the victim, Antonio Belk (DOB 1/15/1970) inside the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Belk was able to give a brief statement to officers on scene before being transported by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center.

CMPD Robbery detectives are currently in the process of signing warrants on Corey Jenkins (DOB 11/30/1984) for robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and felony breaking and entering.

According to victim and witness statements, Mr. Jenkins had previously been at Mr. Belk's residence earlier in the day and then later returned. At this time, Mr. Jenkins forced his way into the residence and an altercation occurred between the two men. Shots were fired by Mr. Jenkins striking Mr. Belk multiple times. Personal property was also taken from another victim who was inside the residence at the time of the incident. Mr. Jenkins then fled the scene.
