Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have arrested and charged Quinton McCoy Green with a April 5, 2001 robbery and sexual assault. CMPD's Crime Laboratory and Sexual Assault Cold Case Unit identified Green earlier this year and warrants were issued March 31, 2006. Green was serving active time in NC DOC for Armed Robbery at that time. When he was released from NCDOC Custody December 5, 2006, members of the Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) were there to make the arrest. He was transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail where the warrants were served.
On April 5th 2001 at approximately 8:30 p.m., the two victims were walking home from a restaurant near their homes. Two unknown subjects approached them and produced weapons. They forced the victims off the street and behind a building near the intersection of Poindexter and South Blvd. The two victims were robbed and the female was sexually assaulted by both suspects. The suspects then fled the scene on foot toward South Blvd.
Quinton McCoy Green is charged with 1st degree Rape, 1st degree Sex Offense, 1st degree Kidnapping, 2nd degree Kidnapping and 2 counts Armed Robbery. The second suspect in this case is unknown at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 704-334-1600.
The Sexual Assault Cold Case Unit began full-time operations in January 2006. This is the 6th arrest and 11th case cleared so far this year.
