Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers have taken Cedric Antonio Thomas and Jamie Lee Briggs into police custody for the murder of Quinten Demonta Nelson. Members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s SWAT and VCAT teams and Freedom Division officers arrested Thomas and Briggs at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2008.
SWAT and VCAT officers with the assistance of the Vice and Narcotics Division developed information over the past two days that led them to the Red Roof Inn at 3300 Queen City Dr. where Thomas and Briggs were staying at. Upon arrival, SWAT and VCAT established complete containment of the Red Roof Inn. Cedric Thomas was located inside one of the rooms of the Red Roof Inn and Jamie Briggs was located inside a vehicle that was in an adjacent parking lot of the Inn. Both suspects were taken into police custody without incident.
Cedric Thomas and Jamie Briggs were taken to Police Headquarters where they were interviewed by Homicide detectives.

Update: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Detectives have signed murder warrants for the murder of Quinten Demonta Nelson. Mr. Nelson was shot as he walked along Tryon Street, late in the evening on Monday, September 15, 2008. Cedric Antonio Thomas, 01/20/1985, and Jamie Lee Briggs, 02/23/1992, have been charged with murder. The CMPD Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) has been actively searching for the two since the warrants were signed.

Update: At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), with the assistance of K9 and Freedom Division officers, arrested Nathaniel Pass (DOB 2/3/1983). Mr. Pass was wanted for the murder of Quinten Nelson that occurred on Monday, September 15, 2008.
Earlier today VCAT developed information that led them to one of several locations in the Freedom Division that Mr. Pass might possibly be staying at. VCAT officers canvassed the area and observed a male individual on foot matching the suspect description and were able to track him to a private residence at 627 S. Hoskins Rd. They established complete containment of the residence and shortly after Mr. Pass surrendered to officers and was taken into police custody without incident.
Mr. Pass was transported to Police Headquarters where he will be interviewed by Homicide detectives.
