Homicide Detectives Investigate a Shooting Death on Leake St

Update:  Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Detectives have signed warrants for the murder of Ishema Gause that occurred earlier today, Monday, November 03, 2008 in the Little Rock Apartments.  Rashawn Lamar Franks (DOB 10/12/1990) has been charged with attempted armed robbery and murder.  The CMPD Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and Westover Division officers have been actively searching for Mr. Franks since the warrants were signed.

In addition, anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak to a Homicide Unit detective directly.  Detective H. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a fifteen year old female victim at 5715 Leake St.   The incident occurred at 1:20 p.m. on Monday, November 03, 2008. 

Westover Division officers responded to a call for service in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon with one shot in the Little Rock Apartments, which is located off of West Blvd.  When officers arrived on scene they located the victim, Ishema Gause (DOB 11/25/1992), sitting in the breezeway suffering from at least one gun shot wound.  Ms. Gause was transported to Carolinas Medical Center by Medic where she underwent surgery and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Based on the preliminary investigation it is believed that the victim and suspect knew each other.  Crime Scene Investigations and Homicide detectives are still on scene collecting evidence.
