Homicide Detectives Arrest Suspect in 2007 Homicide

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide detectives arrested Richard C. Lacy (DOB 9/5/1979) earlier today, December 11, 2008 for the murder of Janine Rena McCorey (DOB 10/7/1963).

On December 13, 2007 Metro Division officers responded to a call for service in reference to an Assault with Deadly Weapon with Injury at 1009 Druid Circle.  When officers arrived on scene they located Ms. McCorey lying on the stairs of that address suffering from multiple stab wounds.  She was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where she later died as a result of her injuries. 

A witness was on scene assisting Ms. McCorey when officers arrived and then later led officers to 922 Druid Circle where the incident originated.  Once at that location, Metro Division officers located a second victim, Robert Mitchell Howard (DOB 6/30/1940), inside the residence suffering from multiple stab wounds.

During the course of this investigation, Homicide detectives interviewed multiple witnesses and processed physical evidence.  As a result of this investigation; Mr. Lacy was charged with murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
