Community Shredding Event on February 7

February 2, 2009

Shred-it Charlotte is partnering with Simon Properties and CMPD to offer a free community Identity Theft Awareness and Shred Event on Saturday, February 7, at SouthPark Mall from 9 am to 1 pm (rain or shine). The drop-off area will be in the mall parking lot beside Symphony Park.

CMPD officers and Shred-it employees will be on hand to accept personal documents that people want destroyed in secure on-site mobile shredders. CMPD detectives from the Financial Crimes Unit will also be distributing ID theft brochures and answering questions from the public. Shred-it will have several trucks there so people can get in and out quickly.  Materials to be shredded - old tax records, checks, employment records or any documents that contain peronal information. Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed. Please try to limit the amount to three large boxes or garbage bags.

This is the fifth annual shredding event at this location. The next one has yet to be scheduled. The date and location will be announced soon.
