Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide and ADW Detectives are investigating a homicide at 1401 Murdock Rd. Apt. B.  The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at 11:05 p.m., in the Eastway Division.  The victim, Delroy Riggan (DOB 8/26/1985) in this incident passed away today, Wednesday January 14, 2009 at 10:43 a.m. due to the injuries he sustained from this incident. 

Eastway Division officers responded to a call for service in reference to a male victim who had been stabbed.  When officers arrived on scene they located Mr. Riggan inside the residence at 1401 Murdock Rd. Apt. B with an apparent stab wound.  Medic arrived on scene, treated Mr. Riggan and transported him to Presbyterian Hospital.  Mr. Riggan underwent surgery last night and was listed in critical/unstable condition. 

ADW detectives canvassed the neighborhood and Crime Scene Search units processed the scene for physical evidence.

According to the preliminary investigation, two male suspects knocked on the door at 1409 Murdock Rd Apt. B and when Mr. Riggan answered the door the suspects began assaulting him.  It is believed that Mr. Riggan was stabbed by one of the suspects during this altercation.  In addition, detectives believe the victim and suspect in this incident were known to each other. 

At this time, both Travon Blakley, (DOB 2/8/1987) and Travis Blakley (1/13/1988) have been charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and burglary.
