New Service Provides Crash Reports and -- Soon -- Crime Reports

June 1, 2007

Starting today, people retrieving crash (accident) reports issued by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department from the online database will pay a nominal $2.00 fee. As always, though, citizens may still obtain a free copy of a report by visiting Police Headquarters at 601 East Trade Street or the West Service Area Center at 4150 Wilkinson Blvd.

Starting July 1st, CMPD will expand its online services and make Crime Reports available online. Victims of a crime will be able to get a copy of their report free of charge.

To access a report online, visit the CMPD web site at http://www.cmpd.org and follow the link for Accident or Crash reports. Or, visit www.PoliceReports.US, click on the Eastern region, and then click on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department link. From there, follow the directions to obtain the report needed.
