CMPD Investigates Homicide

Case Update:  CMPD Homicide detectives have arrested Christopher Blake Pham (DOB 10/13/1987) in reference to the homicide that occurred at 2845 Attaberry Drive earlier this morning, January 4, 2009.   After being interviewed by Homicide detectives at Police Headquarters; Mr. Pham has been charged with one count of murder.  Mr. Pham is currently in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office

In addition, family notification for the victim has been completed by Homicide detectives.  The victim's name is Andrew Jay Guilfoyle (DOB 5/31/1986).

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Detectives are currently investigating a homicide at 2845 Attaberry Drive.  The incident occurred on Sunday, January 04, 2009 at 3:39 a.m., in the Eastway Division. 

Eastway Division officers responded to a call for service in reference to shots being fired in the 2800 block of Attaberry Drive.  When officers arrived on scene they located the victim inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.  Pending family notification; the victim's name will be released.

Homicide Unit detectives are on scene canvassing the neighborhood and Crime Scene Search units are processing the scene for physical evidence.

According to the preliminary investigation, the 911 caller was awakened by an altercation outside and immediately following heard several shots.  In addition, there were several witnesses present during this incident who remained on scene.  A possible suspect was detained and transported to Police Headquarters where he is being interviewed by Homicide detectives.  Another individual who was present received a minor injury to his finger and was transported to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe this is not a random act of violence because the victim and suspect knew each other.
