The victim of this shooting, Jose De Jesus Munoz-Zapata, passed away as a result of his injuries last night at Carolinas Medical Center. The Homicide Unit is now handling this investigation. Update: The victim in this morning's earlier shooting at 5926 N Tryon St.. has been identified and family notification has been made. His name is Jose De Jesus Munoz-Zapata (DOB 11/28/84).
Mr. Munoz-Zapata is at Carolinas Medical Center in critical/unstable condition at this time.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department ADW Detectives are investigating a shooting at 5926 N Tryon St in the North Tryon Division. The call for service came in at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2008.
North Tryon Division officers responded to a call for service regarding shots fired near the Kalipzo Nightclub. Upon arrival, officers located the victim at 5926 N Tryon St. sitting in the rear passenger seat of a vehicle suffering from an apparent gun shot wound. The victim has been identified; pending family notification the victim's name will be released.
The victim was treated on scene by CFD and Medic and was transported to Carolinas Medical Center and is in critical/unstable condition.
ADW Detectives and Crime Scene Search units are on scene processing the crime scene for physical evidence.
According to witness statements, an altercation occurred inside the Kalipzo Nightclub, located at 5920 N Tryon St. The victim left the club and returned to his vehicle. At this time, the suspect vehicle drove by; shots were fired and the victim was struck while he was seated in the rear passenger seat. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark green Honda with a rear spoiler.
Detectives are working to identify the individual(s) involved in the incident and are continuing to process the scene for physical evidence. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Detective M. Smith is the lead detective assigned to this case.
