CMPD officers successfully executed warrants today at the Tollhouse Motel on Morehead Street that resulted in the arrests of seven people on a variety of charges and the recovery of stolen merchandise and firearms. The motel has been the target of ongoing investigations into complaints regarding criminal activity and nusiance issues. The suspects were taken into custody without incident.
After SWAT officers secured the scene, Vice and Narcotics detectives began executing the warrants. Officers arrested the owner of the Tollhouse Motel, John Crider, on charges of possession of stolen property. Others arrested on charges including possession of drug paraphernalia: Darlene Watson, Randall Simmons, Richard John Rollman, Billy Riley, Matthew Smith III and Carol Harrison. Additional charges may result as the investigation continues.
Inspectors with the Charlotte Fire Department were involved to assess the safety issues associated with the various dwellings located on the property. Officers in the Metro Division, detectives with CMPD's Property Crimes Bureau and representatives from DMV's License and Theft Bureau were also involved in the planning and execution of the operation.
