In Service Training

The In-Service Training Division is responsible for the development and instruction of courses provided for Charlotte-Mecklenburg police employees, both sworn and civilian. On occasion, officers and agents from nearby local, state, federal agencies attend courses here as well. The In-Service Training Staff consists of a Sergeant, eight officers and one administrative assistant. The Training Academy also draws on a large bank of instructors assigned in various divisions throughout the department.

Coming to Police Training Academy March 12-23, 2007 - Homicide Investigation -
The Homicide Investigation seminar will provide participants with the opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge, skills, and techniques pertinent in the successful resolution of death investigation. Carefully selected case studies are used throughout the program to explore every aspect of homicide investigation. Experts in their specific topic, providing participants with valuable exposure to years of investigative field experience and a variety of techniques, instruct each segment. This intensive two-week program of personalized instruction will provide participants with the requisite knowledge necessary for differentiating between accidental death, suicide, and homicide.

Homicide Investigation is a program developed to meet the needs of senior operational law enforcement officers, crime scene technicians, and investigators charged with responsibilities associated with the investigation of death scenes and violent crimes, as well as their supervisors. Criminal Investigative Departments, State Law Enforcement Agencies, County & Municipal Law Enforcement, Foreign Law Agencies, ATF & DEA, Tribal Law, Military Criminal Investigative are some of the type agencies sending personnel.
