Women in Policing Career Day

Today, more women than ever are choosing careers in policing with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD). In October women interested in a career with the police department got an opportuity to learn more about the rewards of being a CMPD officer.

CMPD offers opportunities to participate in Community Policing, Vice and Narcotics, Canine Unit, School Resource, Highway Interdiction and Traffic Safety (HITS), Lake Patrol, Bike and Foot Patrol, Radio Response, Special Weapons and Tactics, Training and Recruitment, Aviation Unit, Investigations, and Family Services.

 

 

2005 Career Fair. . . The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department last hosted a Women in Policing Career Day  in 2005. Approximately 350 people attended to learn about policework and talk with women officers from Investigations, Lake Patrol, Bike Patrol, K-9 and SWAT,  among other areas.

There are many facets to a police department aside from the officer on the street.  Other civilian or non-sworn positions include:

Animal Control Officer, Records, Crime Reporting Unit, Telecommunicator (Dispatch) and Crime Scene Search.
