Crime Story
On the night of 10th of November 1978, the victim and his girlfriend were outside a local club sitting on a vehicle when Elwood Smith suddenly began shooting at them.
The victim suffered injuries to the shoulder and stomach. His girlfriend was struck in the arm. A patrol officer arrested Elwood Smith several blocks from the scene of the crime. The victim was pronounced dead by Emergency Room staff and his girlfriend recovered from her injury.
A jury found Elwood Smith guilty of Assault with a Deadly Weapon inflicting serious injury and First-Degree Murder. He was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison for ADWISI. He was sentenced to LIFE in prison for First-Degree Murder.
