Crime Story
On the 13th of June 1991, the victim and James Simmons got into an altercation inside her residence. In a fit of rage, Simmons grabbed a glass bowl and bashed her in the head. Afterwards, he grabbed a knife and stabbed her multiple times in the breast and upper chest. As the victim lay on the bathroom floor, she begged for him to stop.

Simmons went into the kitchen and grabbed a food can from the pantry. He returned to the bathroom and beat her with the can until it bent. Simmons continued to beat her with food cans from the pantry. Simmons grabbed a lamp after saw that the victim was still moving on the floor. He repeatedly bashed her in the head with the lamp until she stopped moving. Simmons grabbed her TV and left the residence. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

James Simmons pled to second-degree murder. He was sentenced to serve life in prison.
