Crime Story
In the early morning hours of May 13, 1989 the victim was working as a cook at the Captain D's Restaurant on Freedom Drive. Her normal routine was to enter the restaurant from the front door, lock the door and unlock the back door for employees to enter. When a co-worker came in she found the victim lying on the floor in a pool of blood. When the police arrived at the scene their patrol car was the only vehicle in the parking lot.

An employee, Robert Lee entered the restaurant from the back door, shooting the victim and leaving her on the floor with massive head wounds, and a large amount of blood on the floor.

The reporting officer stated that the victim's handbag was lying on the floor with its contents strewn about the floor. Within a  hour as an officer was escorting the victim's mother to the LEC, he noticed the victim's stolen Orange MG vehicle sitting on the side of the road, and asked her mother if she could identify the car. She said "yes, this is her car."

Robert Lee had tried the previous evening to pry open the cash box and another employee told him to stop. He told her he was going to take the money. That morning he entered the restaurant shooting the victim and proceeded to open the cash box with a screwdriver, taking what little cash was in it. He also went through her handbag taking whatever he wanted including her car keys.

Robert Lee pled guilty to 2nd degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon. He was sentenced to life in prison for the 2nd degree murder, and 14 years for the robbery with a deadly weapon.
