Crime Story
On March 25, 1992 the victim, and two other friends from Rock Hill traveled to Earl Village in Charlotte.  According to the statement given by Harvell to the police, the victim and his friends had traveled there to buy cocaine.  Once they were in Earl village the victim, who was traveling in the back seat, remained in the car while his friends encountered Harvell and two of his friends.  Harvell was known in the neighborhood as a "drug enforcer."  He was armed with a .357 revolver when the incident occurred.  And argument between Harvell's group and the group of friends who had been with the victim. 

The friends of the victim began to run back to the car and Harvell pulled the .357 from his pants and shot several times into the vehicle where the victim was waiting.  The victim, who was still seated in the back seat, was struck twice in the chest.  The friends of the victim were able to drive away from Earl Village and flag down a patrolman who called medic.  The victim died from his wounds. 

Harvell was charged and later turned himself in.  He plead guilty to Second Degree Murder and was sentenced to forty years in prison.
