Conviction: Second-Degree Murder DOC# 0486748 Parole Review Date: 10-8-07 Sentence: LIFE Has Served: 12 yrs 4 mnths to date
|
Crime Story On the evening of December 2, 1993, the victim and a friend drove to Eights Street to purchase rock cocaine. While she was driving down Eighth Street the victim motioned to Jimmy Lee Hancock, who was standing on the street, and held up two fingers as if she were saying she wanted to buy "two dimes" of rock from him.
He motioned for her to pull into an alley and he followed. Hancock approached the car and initially began to make conversation with the victim but suddenly turned angry and accused the victim of stealing drug money from him on an earlier date. The victim denied the accusation and attempted to drive away. As the victim pulled away Hancock reached into the vehicle with a .25 caliber hand gun and shot the victim in the chest. The victim's vehicle veered across the roadway and crashed into a parked car as Hancock continued to shoot at the car.
The victim died from her wounds after being rushed to the hospital. Hancock was tried and convicted of Second Degree Murder and sentenced to LIFE in prison.
