Crime Story
On May 13, 1993, Charles P. Graves lived on the 4300 block of Ashley Circle.  At approximately 7:54 p.m., he went outside of his apartment and began shooting towards the building at 4328 Ashley Circle. 

Victim #1, who lived in a downstairs apartment at 4328 Ashley Circle was in her living room babysitting her one year old granddaughter, Victim #2, when she was struck in the chest by one of the rounds that Graves had fired into the building.  Her granddaughter was also grazed by one of the rounds.  Victim #1 died at the scene from her injuries.

Officer Andy Nobles of the Charlotte Police Department received the call for service of shooting in the area and when he pulled up on the scene he witnessed Graves firing several rounds standing across the street from the victim's apartment.  Nobles pursued Graves into his apartment and apprehended him without knowing that Victim #1 had been injured.

Graves pled guilty to Second Degree Murder for the death of Victim #1 and Assault with a deadly weapon for the injury of Victim #2.  He was sentenced to LIFE in prison.
