Crime Story

On December 7, 1003, Moshesh Gooding and a friend were riding around looking for some girls they knew in the area of 3100 Kalynne Street.  While they were riding around they picked the victim because he needed a ride.  Gooding and his friend had been drinking and smoking marijuana.  Gooding was armed with a semiautomatic handgun.  After riding around for a few minutes the victim told them to stop because he was near his destination.  The victim gout out of the vehicle and shortly afterwards Gooding got out.

Gooding walked to the back of the vehicle where the victim was standing and stated to his friend who had remained in the car, "you are getting ready to be a witness tonight."  At that point, Gooding pulled out the handgun, racked a round into the chamber and held the gun to the victim's head.  His friend exited the vehicle and tried to tell him to stop playing around and then Gooding shot the victim in the head for no apparent reason.  The two got back in the vehicle and left.  The victim was found a short time later and was dead from his injury.

Gooding was tried and convicted of Second Degree Murder and was sentenced to life in prison.  His only reason for killing the victim was that he told friends he wanted to kill someone because he swore on this father's grave he would.  Gooding reportedly laughed about the killing to friends and said it was a "gin thing."
