Crime Story
On May 11, 1991 Charles T. Fisher and a friend drove to his mother's home and Fisher went inside while the friend waited the the car which was Fisher's mother's vehicle. Fisher came back out several minutes later and seemed upset. The friend asked him what was wrong and he said, "I think my mother committed suicide."

The friend called the police department and upon arrival the first officer on the scene approached Fisher and he said the same thing, that he thought his mother had committed suicide. The officer entered the victim's home and found her lying in the living room floor with a large stab wound to the left side of her throat, three was no weapon in sight. She had been stabbed while sitting in a recliner and there was a large amount of blood on the recliner.

Evidence indicated that she ad been dragged from the recliner and onto the floor. Her nightgown was pulled high on her body and she was nude from the waist down. After further investigation the police found her panties in the bathroom of the home and Ajax had been poured on them. The murder weapon was found in a kitchen drawer and had been wiped clean except for a small amount of blood on the handle.

It was clear to investigators that the victim had not "committed suicide."  Investigators later determined that fisher had stabbed his mother, wiped off the knife and placed it back in the kitchen drawer however they were unable to determine when he raped her. DNA evidence linked Charles Fisher to the rape of his mother.. The police were not sure if he raped her before he stabbed her or after she was dead. He had placed her panties in the bathtub in an effort to clean them. He had taken her car and credit card and had purchased items from Belk's department store the day before the incident. Friends and other family members said his mother would have never voluntarily let him drive her car or have her credit cards because she did not trust him.

Police charged Fisher with Rape, First Degree Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Larceny of Auto and Credit Card Fraud. The case had almost gone to trial when Fisher decided to agree to a plea agreement of Second Degree Murder and RWDW. The remainder charges including the rape charge were dismissed. Fisher received LIFE plus 40 years for the murder of his mother. He is currently being investigated for the MAPP program.
