Crime Story
On March 2, 1992, John Carter was staying at the home of his ex-girlfriend. Carter went into the bedroom of the victim, who was his ex-girlfriend's daughter, and knelt by her bed and began to fondle her while she slept. When the victim awoke he ran from the room. The victim told a friend the next day who convinced her to tell her mother. When she told her mother the police were contacted. Carter had committed a similar act in 1990 and was charged and convicted. He was on probation for that offense when he assaulted the victim. Carter pled as charged to Indecent Liberties with a Child and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
