Crime Story
On July 7, 1987 Alfred Barrett broke into the home of John Lee McLaughlin who at the time was 94 years of age. McLaughlin stayed there with his daughter who was Barrett's "wife." Once inside, Barrett stabbed McLaughlin and attacked his wife. The police received a 911 call about a domestic disturbance at the apartment. The police arrived and Alice Johnson, the wife, ran from the apartment and told them Barrett was inside and had stabbed her father.

Barrett ran out the back door and was later apprehended by police. McLaughlin died of his wounds. Barrett pled guilty to first degree murder and was sentenced to LIFE in prison.
