The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) opened its second park and ride facility for Huntersville-area commuters in June 2006. The transit facility is located on Northcross Drive, just northwest of the interchange of Interstate 77 and Sam Furr Road (Exit 25). The 4.7 acre facility has 320 parking spaces with covered and secure bicycle parking, passenger shelters, and lighting. A public art element is integrated into the design of the passenger shelter structure.

Features

  • The facility provides commuters with express bus services and connections to local buses and other CATS services.
  • 77X North Mecklenburg Express has over 10,000 transit riders per month
  • Buses load and unload at the passenger shelter located in the middle interior of the property.
  • On-site surveillance and lighting incorporated is into the design of the facility.
  • Up-to-date schedule and service information is provided on a variable message board system
  • Charlotte artist, Kit Kube's two sculptures take advantage of natural and artificial light to create patterns on surfaces at the passenger shelter. His sculptures are former industrial artifacts, recycled to have a new use.
