WEEKEND STREET CLOSURES

ROUTES 1 – 11, 13 – 23, 26, 27, 34 & 39

On Saturday, August 8, 2009, two events will take place in the Uptown area: The Panthers Blue Points 5K road race and the Presbyterian Hospital Invitational Criterium bike race.

The Blue Points 5K run will assemble at 5:30 a.m. between Mint and 1st Streets and will begin at 7:30 a.m. Runners will proceed north on Mint St., turn right on Stonewall St., right on Kenilworth Ave., right on Morehead St. and right on Mint St. The event is expected to last until 10:00 a.m.

The Criterium bike race will begin at 8:00 a.m. with events scheduled throughout the day. Bikers will assemble at the intersection of Trade & Tryon Streets, proceed south on Tryon, circle the block of 3rd St., Church St., MLK Jr. Blvd., & Tryon St., proceed north on Tryon St., and circle the block of 6th, College & 7th Streets. The event is expected to last until 11:30 p.m.

Due to street closures related to these events, detours will be in effect. CATS customers wishing to board or alight buses within the affected areas are encouraged to do so at the Charlotte Transportation Center, located at 300 E. Trade Street.
