CATS ANNOUNCES SERVICE SCHEDULE FOR FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND

Charlotte, N.C., June 30, 2009 - In observance of the Independence Day holiday, on Friday, July 3, 2009, CATS will operate a Sunday schedule on local bus routes and a reduced express bus schedule for customers who work in Center City Charlotte.  “Many businesses are closed on Friday,” said Larry Kopf, CATS Chief Operations Planning Officer.  “However, for the commuters who do need to get to work on July 3, CATS wants to ensure they have accessibility and convenience to transit.”  Routes 81X Wachovia Express Shuttle and 44 Fort Mill will also operate on Friday, July 3.

CATS will operate a Saturday bus schedule on Saturday, July 4, and a Sunday bus schedule on July 5.  No express bus service will operate on Saturday or Sunday.

The LYNX Blue Line will operate a Saturday schedule on Friday, July 3.  On Saturday, the Fourth of July, the LYNX Blue Line will also operate on a Saturday schedule and will operate on a Sunday schedule July 5.  Extra trips on the LYNX Blue Line will operate as warranted over the Independence Day holiday weekend.
