Charlotte, N.C., April 28, 2009 - Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is pleased to announce the winners from its Fourth Annual Bus Maintenance Roadeo. The Maintenance Roadeo gives employees a chance to demonstrate the skills and knowledge that they use every day to help CATS maintain a safe transit system.
First place honors in the maintenance competition went to the team consisting of Ben Thompson, Jack Walker and Scott Gleason. Second place went to the team of Craig Patch, Bernard Romero and Billy Belcher. The third place team consisted of Cal Hazen, Nick Perry and Jeff Dahle. The maintenance teams were judged on speed and accuracy as they searched for vehicle defects such as shifting issues and transmission problems. In the body shop competition the team of John Eppich and Stephen Smith took first place while Mike Jenkins and Matthew Hendrick took second. Body shop teams had to replace a front window and passenger windows on a bus in a timed competition.
