CATS HOLDS INFORMATION SESSIONS ABOUT UPCOMING SERVICE CHANGES

Charlotte, N.C, February 2, 2009 - The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) invites customers to learn about the upcoming service changes that go into effect March 2, 2009.   Two information sessions are being held to educate passengers about the changes and give them the opportunity to ask questions.

"We had some tough decisions to make due to the current financial pressures of the economy," said CATS' Chief Executive Officer Keith Parker.  "CATS evaluated its services and looked at where resources could be more efficiently used."
CATS' staff held meetings in November and December seeking customer input before implementing changes.  Parker said, "We went to the public with our proposals and gathered feedback, input and other ideas on how to improve services.  With that information, staff made additional changes based on suggestions from our customers."

The times and locations for the information sessions are as follows:

Customer Information Day:
Thursday, February 5th
7:00 am – 6:30 pm
Charlotte Transportation Center
Pavilion B
310 E. Trade Street

Open House:
Tuesday, February 10th
4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center
Room 270
600 E. Fourth Street

If you are unable to attend an information session, you can view the information online by visiting www.ridetransit.org and clicking Service Change.   You may also call CATS Customer Service at 704-336-RIDE (7433).
