MORE PARKING AVAILABLE AT I-485/SOUTH BLVD. LYNX STATION
Charlotte, N.C., November 12, 2008 - In an effort to accommodate additional parking needs, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is pleased to announce that more parking is now available at the I-485/South Blvd. Station on the LYNX Blue Line. The new lot will provide 54 additional parking spaces near the parking deck that is already overflowing each day with commuters. Signs are posted in the area to assist commuters in finding the new spaces, which are just south of the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant located at 9530 South Blvd.
“The additional parking will help alleviate some of the immediate parking demand at this station, while a more long-term parking expansion project is underway,” said CATS Chief Operating Officer Jim Zingale. CATS is currently preparing to pave and stripe an additional parking lot on land just north of Texas Roadhouse and east of the LYNX tracks. This new lot will house approximately 85 parking spaces. Once this expansion project is complete, the I-485/South Blvd. Station will have over 1,200 parking spaces. The parking lot expansion is projected to be complete in early 2009.
