PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING BEGINS ON CHARLOTTE STREETCAR PROJECT

Charlotte, N.C. - As the Charlotte Streetcar Project moves towards a 30 percent design level, the City of Charlotte Engineering and Property Management Department (E&PM) and Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) want to let you know what will be occurring over the next year during preliminary engineering.

"By advancing the design, we are looking at refining the project cost and providing additional detail on how items such as track design, stops, utilities and emerging propulsion technologies will directly impact project costs," said John Mrzygod, Transit Services Program Manager for E&PM.

The Charlotte Streetcar Project Team will host a series of public meetings to present an overview of the proposed project. The public is encouraged to attend one of the meetings to learn more about the details of the project and provide feedback.

*Please note the same information will be shared at all three meetings.
