CATS LOCAL MONTHLY TRANSIT PASS SETS NEW RECORD Charlotte, N.C., July 29, 2008 - High gas prices and the rise in demand for CATS services have led to an increase in customers wanting a local monthly transit pass. Due to the surge in ridership, businesses that sell transit passes through CATS Employee Transportation Coordinator (ETC) Program and other pass outlet locations have increased their orders for the local monthly pass, leaving a low supply of local monthly passes at the Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC).
Customers attempting to buy an August or September monthly pass at the CTC will receive four weekly passes for the same price as a monthly pass, if the inventory runs low. The four weekly passes provide the customer with the same unlimited ride capability on CATS and LYNX services and are the same price as the local monthly pass. Customers can still purchase a local monthly pass from any of CATS’ 27 outlets throughout the city while supplies last. CATS anticipated a growth in sales leading into 2008 and increased the inventory of local monthly passes by 42 percent. Sales of the local monthly pass have continued to soar since February and CATS has ordered a 50 percent increase in the current inventory level and the local monthly passes are expected to arrive in early September to meet additional demand.
