CATS SEEKS FEEDBACK ON THE LYNX BLUE LINE EXTENSION
Join us for these workshops and tell us what you think!
Charlotte, N.C., July 3, 2008 - Planning for the LYNX Blue Line Extension, proposed to run from Ninth Street in Center City to I-485 in Northeast Charlotte, continues to move forward and the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) wants to hear from you. Join us for two public workshops starting next week to review and provide feedback on the latest information regarding station locations and alignment alternatives. Updates include proposed changes to stations in North Davidson ("NoDa") and University City, as well as possible alignment modifications near the Sugar Creek, UNC Charlotte and Mallard Creek stations.
As the project moves through preliminary engineering, CATS and the City of Charlotte have been evaluating the Blue Line Extension to ensure viability. In addition to transportation benefits, the project is also assessed based on land use, costs, economic development and public input.
CATS has worked closely with stakeholders along the 11-mile line to make sure the community has a say in how the Blue Line Extension can best serve current and future riders.
"The LYNX Blue Line Extension is a community project and it's important to hear from citizens. These input sessions are an opportunity to contribute to decisions that will be a part of our communities for decades to come," said Danny Rogers, CATS' Senior Project Manager. "We encourage the public to attend and be an active part of this exciting project for Charlotte's future."
