WEST CORRIDOR ENHANCED BUS SERVICE ON THE WAY
Charlotte, N.C., May 16, 2008 - The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is looking to improve transit service for neighborhoods along Wilkinson Boulevard and West Morehead Street with the West Corridor Enhanced Bus service. This new route would also make it easier for commuters to get to and from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. Residents are invited to a public meeting on Tuesday, May 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to hear the latest information on the proposed service. The meeting will take place at the West Service Center, located at 4151 Wilkinson Boulevard.
The proposed West Corridor Enhanced Bus service will primarily operate via Morehead Street and Wilkinson Boulevard, with a higher level of passenger amenities at more efficient stop locations. The new Enhanced Bus service will replace the existing Route 5 Airport. CATS staff will discuss in detail the proposed stop locations, bus routing and level of service. The public will have the opportunity to give their input on the proposed plans.
"This new service will provide residents and airport travelers more flexibility, whether they are trying to catch a flight or travel to Center City, the convenience of 15- minute service greatly increases their transportation choices." said Jason Lawrence, Transit Planner for CATS.
