CHANGES COMING TO SOUTH END SHUTTLE SERVICE

Charlotte, N.C., May 3, 2007 - Visitors to Charlotte’s Historic South end will have a new way to travel to restaurants, shops and gallery crawls.  On May 4, Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will provide a sneak peak of a new Friday evening shuttle service that will run every 15 minutes between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.  The Friday night shuttle service officially begins May 18.

“Providing South End Shuttle service will connect visitors and residents to the increasing number of night time activities in the fast-growing Historic South End area,” said Larry Kopf, CATS Chief Operations Planning Officer.  Each trip will start at Atherton Mill and travel throughout the South End via Tremont and South Boulevard, Park Avenue, Camden Road, Summit Avenue, Winnifred Street, Bland Street and back to Atherton Mill.

Starting May 14, the daytime hours of South End Shuttle service will be adjusted to run during rush hour only.  Service will run from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday through Friday from the South End into Center City Charlotte.  Commuters in the afternoon will be able to catch the shuttle home between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.
