GET TO THE BANK OF AMERICA 500 NASCAR RACE WITHOUT HAVING TO SIT IN TRAFFIC
Charlotte, N.C., October 2, 2007- As the chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championship moves into high gear, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is teaming up with Lowe's Motor Speedway to make getting to and from the speedway easier for race fans as they head to the Bank of America 500 on October 13. "We launched the Lowe's Motor Speedway (LMS) Race Express last October on a trial basis and after the tremendous response we received from customers we decided to bring it back again this year for the fall race," said Jim Zingale, CATS' Chief Operating Officer. "Fans enjoy that it's a quick, hassle-free way to get to the speedway." In its first year of service, the LMS Race Express carried 1,726 riders.
The LMS Race Express will operate from park and ride lots at Carolina Place Mall and Northlake Mall to Lowe's Motor Speedway every 30 minutes between 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Passengers may bring small coolers that fit on your lap but no eating or drinking are permitted while on the bus. The LMS Race Express will utilize priority routes to enter and exit the speedway. Both drop-off and pick-up locations at Lowe's Motor Speedway will be near the track's main entrance. Return trips will begin approximately one hour following the checkered flag. Bus passes for the service are $20 round-trip per person. Tickets can be purchased at the Charlotte Transportation Center, located at 310 East Trade Street in Center City. Customers can also purchase tickets online at www.racepackage.com or by calling the Lowe's Motor Speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS. Tickets will also be available at the park and ride lots on the day of the races.
