LYNX BLUE LINE TRACK REPAIR BEGINS
LYNX will operate on a single track throughout the weekend of July 11
Charlotte, N.C., July 9, 2008 - Beginning Friday, July 11, at 7:30 p.m. the Charlotte Area Transit System's (CATS) LYNX Blue Line will operate on a single track as contractors begin making track repairs. The track work will initially impact the New Bern Station and later impact the East/West and Bland Street stations. Repairs will be complete Monday, July 14, before morning rush hour and the LYNX Blue Line will resume normal service.
The repairs are due to an incident that occurred in April when an 80-foot silo tumbled and crashed onto the tracks near Remount Road causing damage to the tracks.
Trains will be operating from both sides in a single track mode. Signs will be posted at affected platforms telling passengers which side to board. Customers should listen for station announcements and expect some delays while the repairs are being made. Also, the Charlotte Trolley will not be in service during this time.
