APPOINTMENTS
The Board made the following appointments:

• Dennis Callan, Jenifer Daniels, Pamela Gordon, Gregory Hardin, Bill Hodges, Marcia Lane, John Lillard, Craig Richardville and Aaron Sanders were appointed to the Information Services & Technology Committee.

PROCLAMATIONS
The Board designated February as Black History Month to acknowledge, reflect upon, and celebrate the many contributions of African-Americans to the cultural, social, economic and historical development of our country, state, region and community.

 

REFINANCING BONDS
Following the decision to delay borrowing $253 million in bonds, the Board voted to refinance $300 million in previously borrowed bonds. The refinancing, called refunding, will allow the County to receive a lower interest rate and therefore save an estimated $1 million annually over the life of the bonds.

JAIL EXPANSION CONTRACT
The Board authorized County Manager Harry Jones to negotiate a fee and execute contracts with Balfour Beatty / Rodgers Builders for Pre-Construction and Construction Management Services for the Mecklenburg County Jail Expansion 2008.
