Charlotte, NC - In recognition of National Mental Illness Awareness Week, Mecklenburg County Area Mental Health Authority announces the launching of three new Spanish language support groups. The Spanish speaking community in Charlotte-Mecklenburg has requested support groups that specifically address anxiety, depression, and post traumatic stress disorder.

The Spanish-language meetings will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 6212 Tuckaseegee Road in Charlotte.
- Mondays, 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.
- Thursdays, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
- Saturdays, 10 a.m. - noon

AMHA has partnered with Our Lady of Guadalupe Church to establish these support groups and meet a growing need in our community. "The support groups are now a reality thanks to the staff of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church who provide space, support and refer consumers to our meetings" says Carlos Martinez, Area Mental Health Authority’s Community Outreach Coordinator.

Mecklenburg County Area Mental Health Authority (AMHA) is working to create a community system that empowers and supports individuals to lead healthy and independent lives. AMHA’s focus is on managing services for those most in need and those with limited financial resources, rather than providing services.
