How Can I Become a Provider?

There are two ways to become a provider of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse services in Mecklenburg County.

  1. Medicaid Direct Bill Provider – To become a direct bill provider of Medicaid services, the provider must apply for and become endorsed for a specific Medicaid service.  Endorsed providers must have a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the LME.  Learn more about Endorsement.

  2. Area Mental Health Contract Providers – For consumers who do not have Medicaid, limited funding is available from State, County and other resources (IPRS - Integrated Payment and Reimbursement System).  Under this system, providers must have a contract with the LME.  When the LME determines a gap in services or new services and funding are available, the LME issues a Request for Proposals (RFP) or a Request for Information (RFI).  RFP's are posted on the LME website. Learn more information about Contract Providers.
