The CFAC, a volunteer group, is there to make sure consumer voices are heard and responded to as the mental health system continues to change. The group advises Area Mental Health to make sure that system reform is going in the right direction.
The CFAC reviews policies that have a direct impact on consumers and their families and participates in the quality improvement process. The group is also assisting AMH with selecting contractors to provide services to consumers.
Q. Who are the members?
A. The group consists of 16-20 volunteers representing each of the areas served by AMH -- mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse. The volunteers are consumers, former consumers and consumer family members.
Q. How can I get involved?
A. Meetings, open to the public, are held on the third Thursday of each month at 5:30-7:30 p.m. at CMC Behavioral Health, 501 Billingsley Road, 1st Floor, Charlotte.
