Best Friends, Utah, Celebration of Animals

Bailey Road Park has the usual recreational opportunities. Disc golf, soccer fields, and tennis courts. The 57 available acres will have one more attraction on Saturday May 10th from 10am-3pm. The Animal Care & Control Bureau will have a microchip and animal showcase of animals available for adoption. Learn about the shelter and get a microchip for your pet.

Everyone loves the NoDa Gallery crawls, including big black dogs from the Animal Care & Control Bureau! So while you're enjoying the tasty eats and the art on display from talented artists, visit the Big Black Dog Adoption booth during the crawl at the Meow & Fetch Pet Store. Adopt a new friend that may enjoy art more than you. Move over Picasso! You and your new furry friend are sure to make a dognamic duo!

 

 

Public Library/Imaginon Adoption Fair 310 N. Tryon St Saturday May 31st 10:00am-3:00pm
The Animal Care & Control Bureau is partnering with the Public Library and Imaginon for an animal adoption fair and drawing contest on Saturday May 31st from 10am-3pm. Visit the library to expand your imagination and while you're there stop by the adoption booth hosted by the shelter. Animals available for adoption will be there for interaction. Adopt an animal and you may enjoy reading to your new friend. Your new pooch will hear a tale, while wagging his tail!

June 14- surgeries are for cats only but any dog or cat can get a rabies shot

Although no appointment is required for a rabies vaccination, you must have an appointment for surgery.

Due to the high volume of requests for surgeries, please allow 60-90 days for your appointment to be scheduled.

Surgery Information

  • Priority for appointments is given to low-income families
  • Please call 704-336-4424 to make an appointment.  Do not assume your animal has been scheduled for surgery unless you receive confirmation.
  • Surgeries and rabies vaccinations are available for Mecklenburg County residents only.  Owners must bring a photo ID with their current address
  • The number of surgeries performed will be decided by the on-site veterinarian.
  • Owners must have removed their pets' food and water by 6:00pm the evening before surgery.
  • The animal's age or weight may disqualify it for surgery in the mobile van.
  • Owners must pick up their pets by 3:00pm on the same day as the surgery was performed.

All dogs must be on leashes and cats in individual carriers.

The CMPD Animal Control Bureau reserves the right to decline these services to people not meeting these criteria.

South Park Mall Adoptions

Its time to kick off the summer!  What better way to do it than with a new furry friend from the Animal Control Bureau?  Come to the center court at South Park Mall on the first Saturday of each month to meet orphaned animals available for adoption.  Dogs and cats ready for adoption and shelter staff and volunteers will be available to answer all of your questions.

 

Summertime is the perfect time to make new friends so why not go home with a new friend that you can splash around in the pool with?  Adopt that friend from the Animal Control Bureau!
