Animal Statistics

In an ongoing effort to educate the public about the magnitude of the pet overpopulation problem, we are making available the statistics that show how many animals come into the shelter every month.  The data is given for all animals and then is broken down further for dogs and cats since that is what most people are interest in.

The city runs on a fiscal year which runs from July 1 to June 30; therefore, the data is presented for the same time period.

Fiscal Year 2009

We have worked with rescue groups for several years and they rescue many animals from us.  In past  years, we have classified those transactions as adoptions.  In fiscal year 2010 we stopped charging rescue groups an adoption fee and now we classify the transactions in which they rescue animals from us as "transfers".  You will see this category appear on the statistical report for FY10.
