Sissy

Hi Dr. Mary,
I wanted to drop you a note and let you know how much we LOVE Sissy. When the note on her paperwork said, "this dog would make a great family pet", I didn't fully understand how true that would be. This flat-coat retriever mix we adopted in July is such a sweet girl - full of love and kisses for everyone and everything.
We took her to the ALGC (Animal League of Gaston County) Dog Obedience classes in the fall for fun, socialization and to learn some basics. She just loved the other dogs and the classes have really made her shine. At times, it looked like she was smiling during class. She now walks perfectly on the leash and is a complete joy to take out for long walks. She especially loves the White Water Park.

Outside of class, she has learned to catch a Frisbee mid-air AND return it too. She has a lot of energy, very curious, and very smart. Sometimes, we wonder if she doesn't have Border Collie in her. We would like to get her in some agility classes. I know she'd really enjoy that and we could use the exercise too.

Sissy and Max

We had been looking to adopt another dog and in December we found Max from Tri-County Animal Control. He was 10 weeks old when we got him. They immediately hit it off and are best buddies. They wear each other out running around and playing. They share everything - toys, treats, and food.

I'm so impressed with both of these dogs.

Thanks for the work you do. We highly recommend adopting a pet when looking for an animal to welcome into your family and people at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Control are great to work with.
