Assistance Carts: Upon request, airlines will provide an assistance cart to assist passengers in accessing different areas of the passenger terminal. Assistance carts can also be obtained through a Skycap.
Wheelchairs: Upon request, all airlines will provide wheelchair assistance to any passenger. Wheelchairs can be reserved in advance by calling the airline on which you plan to travel. Wheelchairs can also be obtained upon arrival through a Skycap.
Passenger Loading Lifts: All airlines have access to motorized lifts for passengers. Terminal to commuter airplane lifts are available on each concourse.
Service Dogs: Service dogs are usually allowed to travel aboard the aircraft with passengers. However, travelers are advised to contact their airline and verify their policy and make arrangements. Designated "parking areas" for service dogs are located outside of Baggage Claim, in the grassy areas closest to the parking decks.
Telephones: All passenger terminal telephones are of low level design and easily accessible from a wheelchair. Most terminal telephones have volume control.
Text telephones (TTY's) are located throughout the facility and can be distinguished by the black and white sign, with the text telephone symbol and blue receiver handle, at each location. Charlotte Douglas International Airport can be accessed by TTY, 24 hours a day, (704) 359-4837.
Visual Paging: Visual Paging is available throughout the terminal. Passengers requiring visual paging should notify any airline personnel to initiate the process.
Restrooms: Terminal and concourse restrooms are accessible. The restrooms in The Atrium/Food Court Area allow for side transfers from a wheelchair.
Parking Lots and Decks: Convenient accessible parking spaces are reserved in the Hourly Parking Decks and Daily Parking.
Disabled travelers parking in Hourly Parking for a 24-hour period are charged the 24-hour fee for Daily Parking. All other rates are as posted.
Ramps to accommodate wheelchair access are located in Daily Parking, near flag poles and in the Hourly Parking Decks.
Accessible shuttle transportation is available to transport disabled passengers to and from Daily Parking.
Continuing efforts and improvements are being made at Charlotte Douglas International Airport to insure that travel procedures for all passengers may be accomplished with maximum ease and safety.
