TROUTMAN COMPANY TO PROVIDE AIRPORT ROCKERS
|
|
Charlotte Douglas International Airport has selected Troutman Chair Co. in Troutman, North Carolina, as the provider of the Airport's signature rocking chair. The white wooden rockers, which have become synonymous with CLT, are made from North Carolina oak logs and feature Troutman Chair Company's unique design. Each rocker is handcrafted and glue-free, featuring interlocking joinery construction. Other features include a curved back rail, double scooped seat and arched runners.
The Airport's white wooden rocker became popular in 1997, during a photography exhibit at CLT entitled, Porchsitting, A Charlotte Regional Family Album. Rockers were placed in the Airport's tree-lined Atrium to accompany the exhibit and to add the style and comfort of a traditional "southern porch". The rockers transformed the Airport's busy Atrium from a fast-paced hub into a tree-lined avenue with a front porch. The unexpected feature became a huge success with passengers and was soon a permanent fixture.
CLT was the first airport known to have rocking chairs in its terminal. Today, the rockers remain a big hit among travelers and have developed into a huge airport trend. Rocking chairs can be found in some of the nation's busiest airports including Cincinnati, Dallas/Ft. Worth, San Diego, Seattle and more.
Celebrating its 83rd year in business, Troutman Chair Co. boasts the "world's best rockers" and is located just 45 miles north of Charlotte. For more information, visit Troutman Chair Co. online at www.troutmanchairs.com.
