Concourse E Construction
  1998
  US Airways establishes crew training base and begins 
  construction on new training facility.
 
  1999
  Plans are announced for the construction of regional
  carrier concourse, Concourse E, and expansion of
  Concourses A and D.
  2000
  Canadian Regional and Southeast begin service.
 
  US Airways begins daily direct service to Paris and
  Frankfurt. (Photo:  Inaugural press event for US Airways

  2001
  US Airways opens a 46,000 square foot line
  maintenance hangar. (Photo: US Airways line

  The nation's airspace is closed for the first time in
  history on September 11th, grounding 115 aircraft
  at CLT.
   

Ticket Lobby

  2003
  United and US Airways announce code-share
   agreement.
 
  The Ticket Lobby is expanded providing 13 additional
  ticketing counters and new security checkpoint.
 
  Baggage Claim is expanded providing an additional
  baggage carousel and international arrivals exit.
   
Concourse D
  2003
  US Airways begins direct service to Mexico City, San
  Jose, Costa Rica and St. Kitts.
 
  Concourse D, airport's international concourse,
  completes a nine gate expansion.

  Charlotte Douglas International Airport celebrates it's
  20th anniversary.
